Essay about Cognitive Learning and Right Brain vs. Left...

Children are exceptional cognitive learners. They have the ability to observe, mimic and retain information by way of their senses. From zero months to five years of age, children are dependent on their cognitive skills to develop and learn within their environment. In my opinion, children are the prime example of the unbound potential that humans to learn. I will be discussing what cognitive learning is and how it contributes to learning and if right versus left-brain dominance impacts how we use our cognitive skills. What is cognitive learning and why is it vital to humans? Cognitive is defined by unabridged dictionary as the â€Å"mental processes of perception, memory, judgment, and reasoning, as contrasted with emotional and†¦show more content†¦People question themselves daily on what their relative motivations are. For example, am I motivated to clean my house today? Do I really want to do my homework right now? Do I have to get out of bed? All of these are human examples of what we ask ourselves daily, and in my opinion motivationally driven. People need motivation to conceive the future of reaching goals and even just daily task. Goldberg, E., (2007) states, â€Å"Without motivation, no life challenge of any degree of complexity can successfully be met†. (pg. 1) forming the conclusion that motivation is also a key part in the learning process. Finally there is attention, attention fall under the mental processes of perception in cognitive learning. Attention is sometimes over looked because it is assumed that everyone has some level of ability to focus on one or more things. Attention is used to focus, on one or more tasks, without attention people could not finish a task or even multiple task. Goldberg, E., (2007) also states â€Å"attention is critical to the success of every human activity†. (pg.3) As you can see cognitive learning is vital to the human development due to the complex dimensions in which the brain works. Memory, Motivation, and Attention are all key elements that aid in the human development of the learning process. Lord of the Flies Antrhopology Essay - 990 Words

Thomas Hobbes was one of the most controversial philosophers of all time. He argued that the, â€Å"Life of man [is] solitary, poor, nasty, brutish, and short† (Hobbes 77). Clearly he didn’t think that humanity was a good group of beings. In the Lord of the Flies by William Golding, one character, Jack Merridew, displays many characteristics of Hobbes’ philosophy on man. Time after time, Golding subtly refers to Hobbes’ philosophy through Jack and his reactions with other characters in the book. After Golding introduces the boys, they want to elect a chief, and already, Golding is using Hobbes’ anthropology. In Hobbes’ Leviathan, he states, â€Å"And therefore, if any two men desire the same thing which nevertheless they cannot both enjoy, they†¦show more content†¦He even literally has his weapons pointed at Ralph in one scene specifically, in which the two leaders are dueling. The narrator narrates, â€Å"Jack made a rush and sta bbed at Ralph’s chest with spear. Ralph sensed the position of the weapon from the glimpse he caught of Jack’s arm and put the thrust aside with his own butt† (Golding 159). Even though Hobbes may have intended this to be figurative without the actual leaders fighting, but their armies doing their work, this seems to fit the same kind of description. Hobbes really means that kings, or in this case chiefs, are always looking to fight each other, always ready for battle, always looking to rid themselves of their opponents. In the same way, Jack is always looking to fight Ralph, always ready for battle against Ralph, always looking to rid himself of Ralph. Golding ultimately connects Jack to Hobbes through Jack’s lack of mercy and justice. An unknown author composed a summary of Hobbes’ argument pertaining to this subject, and wrote â€Å"The state of nature†¦ was founded upon a savage egoism which drove man to seek a maximum of pleasure without hindrance from a norm of justice or mercy toward other men. Every man was continually engaged in war against all other men† (Paragraph 9). Throughout the book, Jack fastidiously tries to not offer mercy or due justice to people. In one instance, Ralph pleads for mercy upon the twins, Sam and Eric. The narrator says, â€Å"’Grab them!’ No one moved. Jack shouted angrily. ‘I said

Humans have used artificial selection to create breeds of dogs that we see as useful for different tasks. There are around 340 different breeds of dogs around the world that are recognised by the World Canine Organisation. The future of HR technology would have to come up with tools that entail the entire business strategy and accordingly formulate an HR strategy so that it is made sure that organizational goals and HR activities are aligned. This can be possible by developing HRM systems whose processes are not only measurable but they also take it to the entirely different and better level of sophistication. The future of HR technology focuses on bringing together business and believes in the formation of more integrated functionality. There are components like portals, business intelligence (BI) and talent. These components would solely not be very effective, but if they are integrated, their combined effect would yield good results. There must be specific attention towards talent management along with portals and business intelligence which would enhance the future scope of HR technology for the globe (Systematic HR, 2006). The data findings of this study is clearly represented in the form of tables that helps differentiate the responses gathered from people of different age groups, educational background and other demographics. The results of the article are stated using different methods of analysis such as Cronbachs alpha and Kruskal-Wallis Test. Cronbachs alpha is a test used for measuring internal consistency. The final section of this report, Conclusion and Suggestions adds to the summary of the entire research study and recommendations for conducting any further study. The summary of research is presented in an excellent manner. The findings from the literature and primary research is well represented and linked back with the references that adds weight to the arguments made in the study (Hogan and Coote 2014). However, one of the greatest weaknesses of the article is that it does not include the implications of the study. The intended audience through this research study are not determined that might mislead the readers. The research study only involves primary method of research that made the study time-consuming. Guclu and Guney (2017) might have chosen to involve secondary study analysis as well to obtain time-saving and cost benefits. Incomplete references are provided for academic books that do not mention the edition or place of publication. The research study could involve more peer-reviewed articles and other reputed journals that make the research study authentic. Also, the references are decades old that make the data questionable. There might be a chance that the data might not be appropriate for analyzing the employees of current situation as the data sources are outdated. Also, no appendix is provided stating the survey that was conducted to gather data for this research study. Don’t Forget Who You Are by Miles Kane free essay sample

Miles Kane’s sophomore album, â€Å"Don’t Forget Who You Are,† is a mixed bag. On one hand, the CD sounds quite good. The songs are catchy, Kane’s vocals are exceptional, and the production is a step up from his debut album. The nostalgic ’60s sound that he constructed his career upon is still present, especially in the hit single â€Å"Don’t Forget Who You Are.† â€Å"Bombshells,† while short, is also a track worth singling out as impressive. However, instrumentals seem to be a huge problem for the Liverpool star. More often than not, he becomes entangled in the styles of other bands. â€Å"Give Up,† for example, sounds far too much like a dark, guitar-bursting tune that is the signature of Kasabian. â€Å"Darkness in Our Hearts† copies the sizzling guitars of the Strokes, and â€Å"Out of Control† sounds as if it were swiped from a long-lost Oasis album. While it is often beneficial to look to other bands for inspiration, there’s a fine line between what is and isn’t acceptable. For those partying at gigs, the loud, chant-worthy tunes Kane has provided are considered hits. The fans at home, however, are left scratching their heads. For them, it’s clear that this album is a step back from its predecessor in nearly all areas. Make no mistake: Miles Kane certainly has talent, and this album has its strong points. However, it’s obvious that more thought needs to go into Kane’s work if he expects to move his career in the right direction.
